Patriot Participates in our 6th UBS Parade Spectacular
A behind the scenes look at the annual Stamford Event on November 22nd
When asked about the strangest thing that ever happened during the UBS Parade Spectacular, Lynne Colatrella, VP of Events & Marketing for the Stamford Downtown Special Services District, (SDSSD) didn't hesitate. "It was the year a Shriner ran over a dancer. Fortunately," she added, "no one was hurt and the dancer performed better than ever." Patriot "Cleans Up"
On Saturday, October 15th, Patriot National Bank partnered with Save the Sound to remove over 100 POUNDS of debris from nearly a mile of shoreline along Cove Island Park in Stamford. Patriot employees, from the back office to the branches, teamed to walk the beach and park area, wearing protective gloves and carrying bags to fill with garbage and recyclables. Each team was given data cards and pencils to record their findings. In addition to the expected cans, bottles, food wrappers and cigarette butts, volunteers also found a child-size scooter. After the cleanup, Save the Sound staff analyzed the data to help support needed litter reduction legislation, like the Bottle Bill.

Patriot Helps Revive a Piece of Stamford History
It took ten years and donations from more than 350 alumni, friends and local businesses to restore a mural originally painted for Stamford High School in the 1930's. "Sports" was one of seven murals artist and author James H. Daughtery created for the high school under President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal Public Works of Art Project. Installed in 1934, the murals were removed from the school's walls during a renovation in 1970. Six of the seven murals were found by a student who rescued them from a dumpster.
