Patriot National Bank to raise funds and awareness of ALS
in honor of Norwalk resident and bank director, Brian A. Fitzgerald
STAMFORD, CT (February 18, 2010). From February 22nd through March 20th, Patriot National Bank will be selling shamrocks at our 19 branches, joining the Muscular Dystrophy Association's efforts to raise funds and awareness of the disease Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. The Muscular Dystrophy Association became involved with ALS when Eleanor Gehrig, widow of Yankee first baseman Lou Gehrig was looking for a way to fight this disease. For Patriot, the cause became personal when one of our Directors, Brian A. Fitzgerald was diagnosed in 2008. It is in honor of Brian that we opted to help the MDA continue with their worldwide programs of ALS research, services and information.
In addition to serving as a Patriot National Bank and Bancorp Director since 2005, Brian has dedicated himself to the community through his work and volunteer activities. From 2001-2008 he was Finance Director and Property Manager at Villa Maria Education in Stamford. Brian has volunteered for the Cranbury Community Chapel Association, the Laurel Athletic Club, the Saint Vincent DePaul Food Pantry, the Sacred Heart Academy and the Catholic Club of Fairfield County. Born and raised in Norwalk, he and his wife of forty years, Gay, currently reside there. They are parents of five children and grandparents to eight.
Patriot President and CEO, Charlie Howell has had the honor of serving with Brian on three different bank boards and shares that, "Brian has always been an outstanding Director and contributes a great deal to any organization with which he becomes associated. He is also someone who has volunteered to improve his community in many ways. Everyone here has the highest regard for him and we expect him to be a part of the Patriot family for many years to come."
Shamrocks may be purchased at any one of our 19 branches located in Southern Connecticut and New York.
